Overview
A series of workshops designed for people to explore who they are and what matters to them. There will be opportunity to explore interests and goals in the context of contributing in the community and developing and maintaining relationships. Workshops will build awareness of how communication and self advocacy can assist with pursuing and achieving your desired future. Workshops will also incorporate presentations and involvement from other community organizations.
Workshop #1 - Self Esteem
Learning Objective:
Learners will be able to
- Define Self Esteem
- Identify two components that build positive Self Esteem
- Discover what positive Self Esteem looks like for them

- Define “Interest”
- Identify personal Interests
- Define the two types of “roles”
- Examine how personal interests can be used to acquire roles

- Define Community
- Identify key aspects of contributing
- Assemble a community map
- Demonstrate contributing in the community

Workshop #4 – Networking
Learning Objective:
Learners will be able to
- Define Networking
- Describe why networking is important
- Identify the 6 steps to successful networking
- Demonstrate how to network related to a personal interest

Learning Objective:
Learners will be able to
- Describe the importance of communication
- Define three types of communication styles
- Evaluate your own communication style
- Discuss how to use the three techniques to assertive communication
